I'm getting mixed signals from HBO here: they go out and hire these comedians to be edgyonly to pair them with dullest, most boring voiced host to ever speak into a microphone.

The only announcer that I can honestly say is worse for sports would have to be Bryant Gumble on NFLN, and they finally pulled the life support on that idiotic project.

There will (thankfully) be no second season. Nobody in their right mind would pay to watch Joe Buck.

"'The whole episode was regrettable. He should never have been booked. We took a risk.'"

No doubt, no doubt about it. Who next? Jeff Ross? Here's my thoughts on where HBO "Sports" truly went wrong. They think Joe Buck is a likeable personality to your average sports fan. The truth is, most people hate him. Fox has a monopoly on the NFC and nationally televised baseball games as well as the World Series. Buck is not a good announcer. While we put up with him due to our love of the game, he adds nothing to some of the biggest moments in sports. Fact is, Fox is not going to lose viewers because of Joe, just because our team is playing, a championship is on the line, or there is nothing better than sports on TV.

What HBO should do, is find an interesting, likeable, and passionate sports fan to host the show, not Joe Buck.
