Here’s a little free advice for some of you out there: If you’re running an illegal card club and you get robbed, don’t call the police!

A popular New York poker den frequented by Sopranos star Robert Iler and several NBA players was robbed late last night by a group of gun-wielding entrepreneurs. The crooks reportedly made off with about $50,000 of the some 70 clients’ money.

Here’s where it gets funny. The cops didn’t catch the robbers, but they did arrest the club owner for promoting gambling and possessing bookmaking supplies. Oh, the humanity! Whatever happened to the days when a hard-working illegal gambling club owner could count on the police to protect his interests? Perhaps he didn’t grease the wheel enough. That $50,000 just might have done the trick.

Britney Spears has been very busy lately trying to get more and more attention. She’s been working a little bit on an album that she wants her fans to name, and convincing her rational fans that she’s completely nutzo. More than anything Britney has been trashing her image with one nip slip, then another, and with a crotch shot (with panties) for good measure. With all that she’s garnered the attention of none other than Candy Spelling, who raised the incredibly well adjusted Tori Spelling. Once again Tori has written a letter to Britney, in which she admits being addicted to gossip blogs. Bwahaha.

I had no idea it was possible for a stick girl to get pregnant. I thought rubbing two sticks together would start a fire. Here’s more:

NOW that she’s pregnant, Nicole Richie is getting hitched, too. The tiny "Simple Life" star and her boyfriend, Joel Madden, showed up for the YSL Pool Party to benefit Center Dance Arts at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday night - and she was conspicuously wearing a huge diamond engagement ring. "It was one big rock surrounded by more diamonds," our source said. Richie refused to talk about the ring. Meanwhile, Madden was "overly attentive to her - keeping his arm around her all night - and repeatedly asked her if she was OK." The cozy couple ate everything on their plates, lobster salad and lamb, but refused all alcohol, which our snarky spy called "a first for her."
